About
Ilias is a full time Associate Professor in Engineering Project Management at UCL.
Ilias research focus encompasses a broad range of topics within the field of project management and the built environment. He has made significant contributions to the nexus of engineering management and project studies. Ilias has varied research interests that integrate the technical problem-solving skills of engineering with organisational, administrative, and planning skills of management. Ilias interests include uncertainty management, design flexibility, project performance, governance and coordination of complex projects and networks, and organisational change projects.
A civil engineer by trade, Ilias has worked in the built environment sector such as railways, metro, highways, national heritage buildings, and urban developments for more than 10 years.
Ilias research has secured significant research income and received several awards and prestigious fellowships including:

• Most Downloaded Paper of the Year Award – Project Management Journal (2023)
• Project Management Research Paper of the Year Award – Association for Project Management (APM) (2022)

His research is published in a range of management journals such as ASCE Management in Engineering, Construction Management and Economics, ICE Asset Management Journal, ICE Management, Procurement, and Law, IEEE Engineering Management Review, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Production Planning and Control, and Project Management Journal.
