Giorgio Locatelli

About

Giorgio Locatelli is a leading voice in the management of large-scale, high-stakes infrastructure projects. He created and now directs the “Complex Projects Business” major at the Politecnico di Milano School of Management, where his research, teaching and industry engagement all focus on delivering complex projects better, faster and more sustainably. Since 2006 he has secured € 1.7 million in competitive research funding, published extensively, and built an international portfolio of advisory work for both public and private organisations.

Drawing on backgrounds in mechanical engineering and economics, Giorgio’s scholarship tackles both the bright and the dark sides of megaprojects: from cost, schedule and safety performance to issues of corruption, modern slavery and social–environmental justice. Recent work explores how projects accelerate the Net-Zero transition and how artificial intelligence is reshaping project management practice. Passion for projects 2025
